My/Our Holiday Opinion:

my first time abroad with my son i felt safe in the hotel untill i heard other guests saying their rooms had been robbed, the rooms were clean and comftable the ensuites had all you needed but make sure curtains are in the bath when showering if not you'll end up wadeing out of the bathroom, the baths are tiny half the normal size, we didnt find the food to be that bad my son lived on chips as he fussy eater but i was more than happy with selection (you get what you pay for)

the bar staff were friendly the entertainment was pretty good most nights then ive not got alot to compare with as this is the only all inclusive ive ever been on.

the roof top is lovely for sunbathing and small kids are happy with the paddling pool there are 2 jacuzzi's which are lovely to cool off in, the main pool is a joke its tiny and there is nowhere to sit around it, on arrival it was filthy but when looked again it had been cleaned (it just needed a good ole scrub round the top tiles) the dinning room was large and clean but the staff not very friendly, the bar was ok, apart from the buckets placed on the floor to catch drips where water was coming through the ceiling from other guests bathrooms.
We did make a joke of it by saying it was like faulty towers and we were waiting for manwell to come in , lloret is ok if youre fit an healthy the streets are narrow and very steep the cars drivers are mad and have no consideration for holiday makers the shops are full of ole tat an you cant look at your lesuire as the shop owners are on your case as soon as you step in.
the water park is fantastic(water world)
the beaches are man made it reminded me of the gravel you put in fish tanks despite all this i had a good time but wont ever return,

we did go to the royal sun for the day being another h top and that is the total opposite its got lovely pools food was spectacular a lot more choice but never saw the rooms.

well were do i start the hotel is absolutely disgusting no security anywhere ppl getting robbed in there own rooms where you  think your stuff is safe the holiday rep said that the people who are robbing the rooms sometimes go in a night time if balcony doors are open and spray u with gas then steal your belongings its so dodgey !

i had ants everywhere in wardrobe i had to have 3 blankets on my bed as it was so cold in my room i was down someback street alley that smelt so u had to keep your door shut all the while, there was leaks all through out the hotel the staff were ok but as soon as you made a complaint thay didnt want to know the best bit of my holiday was the roof top but on there if u had kids thay couldnt splash as was always getting told off!! please dont waste your money going there u will not enjoy it listen to these reviews i didnt i wish i had bet part of my holiday was coming home!

My/Our Holiday Opinion:

hotel is clean but basic, rooms are small but you dont need a big space, the balconies vary in size, the bath room floor can be slippy when wet and be careful the water is extremly hot.
i would get a safe as 5 people were robbed and it seems to be a problem in this hotel and they didnt have security.
the hotels main bar was ok, very hot and smokey and staff were not very nice except Alex. entertainment was ok but i thought the bar was like being in a old mans working club. the hotel is very noisey into the smalls hours so i would not recommend it for kids, its seems popular with hen, stag nights. the drink was free flowing and this ment that loads of people got very drunk.

the food was not very good, often luke warm, under cooked and very repetitive.
the best part of this hotel is the roof top terrece, great for sunbathing although not alot of sun loungers, a small splash pool and 2 jacuzzi's for cooling off in and a bar. carmen who worked this bar was very friendly and along with Alex were the best staff at the hotel. the hotel is up a steep bank but apart from that its ok for what you pay to stay there.

we ate out most of the time, the ritz is a good resteraunt to eat at. on the whole this was a holiday to get one of the party use to flyin. it did the trick although personally i would not go back to lloret as i would only decribe it as a blackpool type of resort
i hope this is of some use to you

My/Our Holiday Opinion:

We had some what of an eventfull holiday! We arrived at the Alexis at about 12.30am as we were checking in the nosie from the bar was making it difficuit for the receptionist to book us in. We got in the lift to go to room which was on the 2nd floor the doors opened & closed several times before eventually moving to take us up. We got into the room, well it was really shty! It was dark, dirty and a little bit smelly. The beds were really uncomfortable as they were put up beds, we opened the certain to have a look at the view, we both looked at each other & laughed, we were looking out onto another building & the balcony was big enough for the 2 of us to stand on! We settled down for the night & tryed to get some sleep but unfortunately we couldn't as the noise was awful! there was shouting, screaming, banging, and lots more including fighting until about 6 or 7 in the morning (all this took place on the 3rd floor

In the morning we went to reception and asked to move as we were not happy with the events of the night. We were told that they were sorry there was nothing they could do we had to speak to our travel agents and get them to move us! So day 1 of our holiday was wasted trying to move hotels.

The food was very basic everything was either turkey or pork & used for lunch, dinner& then breakfast. Whatever you had you had to warm in the microwave as it was cold. Snacks were burger, chips, salad, fish, hotdog sausages, bread-rolls, cheese and ham. They had two pools 1 was out of the main door & at the side of the building with no room to sunbath or swim in pool as by the time you'd push off from the side you'd have to turn to come back. The other pool was on the roof this was a circle which was not much bigger than a garden fish pond, there were also 2 whirlpools 1 was warm & the other was cold. although the roof was a sun trap we didn't like sitting there because some of the guests in the hotel used to get reaaly really drunk on the AI drinks that they would run around in the noddy & do other things in the whirlpool! The entertainment in the night was not much better, the bar was always smoke filled as there seemed to be no ventilation in or out. The drinks were okay you had to ask them to keep fillin the glass with the spirts as they were a little sparing.

We finaaly moved after spending 2days at this hotel to the sister hotel up the road which was much closer to bars, shops, bus stops and beach.

My/Our Holiday Opinion:

This hotel is simply not 3 star more like 1 or 2 star maximum.  the hotel was clean and the staff ok.  Food was quite good most days there was always something you can eat.  However be aware that this hotel is on a steep incline which is not shown on the hotel's website and is difficult to navigate if you are inform or have a disability.  I walk with sticks and found it quite painful to get out and around from the hotel.  However after 3 days we found an L2 bus which stops at the end of the road to the hotel and  takes you to Lloret Centre and Fenals for 95 cents and this bus runs every 15 minutes which was a godsend.  The hotel group also run their own shuttle bus which if you pre-book the day before you can go to visit their sister hotels (of which there is nine all of which are better than this hotel.  Beware though if you ask to be moved they will charge you a minimum of 12 euros per person per night supplement. This was our first all inclusive holiday and we were quite impressed even though we felt we have booked in at fawlty towers.
The pool at the Alexis is a joke more like a fishpond than a swimming poool and it does not get any sun.  the roof top jaccuzies and the roof top bar is great and there are plenty of sub beds.

However, this is a very very noisy hotel.  Flights come in daily and  most are late arrivals.  Watch out for the room nos 109, 110 and 111 as these are on the first floor over the bar and you can hear everything.  We did not get much sleep for the 10 days we were there.  They offered to move us to 3rd floor to a room which overlooked a brick wall and a derelict hotel.  You have been warned.  Unless you intend to go just to party all the time and make a lot of noise then please book an alternative hotel.  The location of the hotel was quite good in that it was near to the beach but as stated above you have to navigate a steep hill which gets a bit wearing after a few days.

Just got back from a week in the Alexis Hotel now where do i begin!

I went there as a last minute holiday with my two kids.Firstly if you have kids dont go here there is nothing for them. The pool is unfit to wash my dog in! its filthy and its on the side of the hotel or should i say hostel cos thats what it felt like! The food was rubbish unless you like chips, chips or more chips!thats all we ate.The rooms are basic but cleaned every day. While we were there 4 rooms were burgled in the same night so i suggest you get a safe cos its easy to break in.The rooftop has a paddling pool and two small jacuzzis we spent most of our week up there.People were arriving daily and not even unpacking their suitcases cos they wanted to be moved out from this hotel! The hotel is on an incline its no good for people with health problems.

This 3* hotel only deserves a 1* and that would be over-rating it!Dont waste your money by going here cos you will be dissappointed.I would never go back to Lloret again

On arriving at the hotel we were greeted by a hen party and the police, which is nice when your tired at 3am in the morning. Booking in was fast as security were busy drinking with the hen party.

* roof leaked in the bathroom and although we requested it to be fixed on a number of occasions nothing was done

*groups of lads and girls running around knocking on doors, ringing the telephone in peoples rooms early in the morning.

*pools were tiny didnt go in them once awful!

*food wasnt completly bad some things were alright chips, burgers etc, although we did spend quite a bit of money eating out.

*Entertainment was terrible although the brazilian night was okay.

*Went down to the sea every day for a swim because of the pool and thought it was rather nice until one particular day, i stepped in cat muck and found a used sanitary towel floating next to me whilst swimming LOVELY!

In all the hotel was bad and everybody staying there complained about something. Not Recommended

Back to greece for me next year .

My/Our Holiday Opinion:

I read a number of reviews before booking my holiday to Lloret de Mar and must admit some of them made me feel unsure of the hotel and resort.

Anyway we decided to book to stay at the Hotel Alexis (3 star) at the far east of the town centre (about 2 km away). When we arrived at our hotel, we were given our all inclusive cards and sent up to our rooms on the 3rd floor. When we got to our rooms we opened the door and the smell hit us. It was awful, we quickly opened the balcony doors (which were thin metal doors that swung open not the usual door you find in a hotel) to let the smell escape. After a while it did. The room itself needed a massive update! the walls were stained, the bed almost sank as you lay on them and the toilet was stinking! We had no fridge to keep our water cool, the air conditioning didnt work and the furniture was very old!

After this we went down to the restaurant to get food. It was awful as well. There was vegetables that looked as if they had been there for the full day, the chicken was in a dried up gravy paste, nothing much else was there, so we decide to eat rolls! Due to the fact we were all inclusive we only brought money for snacks and going out at night, this left us short.

We then headed through to the bar. The staff behind the bar were very arrogant. All the product were Spanish made - Coke, Lager, Crisps. Also the brands that were from UK, you had to pay a supplement of 1 euro! whats the point in saying it is an all inclusive?

The resort itself is full of Germans, which wasnt a problem but it was nice to eventually here a British accent! Lloret de Mar is probably one of the most over-rated resorts i have ever been. Why CLub 18-30 have decided to go there i dont know, it just wasnt happening!

The pubs at the small British end are ok, open till 5am and stuff but nothing wow, i though i was back in Glasgow at times.

The beach is a shingle beach and everyone must take care if you are swimming in the sea - there is a big drop after about 20 yards so watch out!

Overall i would never go back to Lloret de Mar again, not even the Costa Brava coastline. Not a great holiday resort, needs upgraded, poor nightlife, no British, arrogant Spaniards, extremely poor hotel (wouldnt give it a star never mind 3!)...

Hope this helps, back to Greek Islands for me!!

My/Our Holiday Opinion:

On arrival the hotel was clean and food was limited but you wouldn`t starve throughout the days.

The room was clean but the balcony was just a wall with a chair and the room was very dark as there was no light being let into the room.  The hotel though was very very noisy, the police arrived several nights and we were only there for 7 nights, fighting between couples, and groups of lads. I know they said entertainment every night but i didn`t think they meant after 12 midnight.

The entertainment was limited but the noise put you off staying in the room.  There were 3 burglaries and someone was mugged not far from the hotel.  If you arrive get a safe immediately as there had been a lot of money gone missing and someone reported some lads knocking on balcony doors to see if anyone was in the rooms.  The staff were un helpful about this and made one couple walk a mile and half to police station and would not phone the police for them or get them a taxi because they had no money left. The hotel could be very nice, but i thought i was in a hostel. I am all for people having a good time but this has got to be the worst all iinclusive hotel for noise and trouble we have been in, and we have been to several.

On the good side the beach was nice and the sea very clear and was not to packed.

My/Our Holiday Opinion:

After reading all the reviews on this hotel we were dreading going but thought it could'nt be too bad, wow were we wrong!

We arrived at the hotel, which is up a steep hill, the reception staff were friendly enough but when we got into our room shock kicked in. As we opened our door we nearly fell over the beds, which were shabby, and the air conditioning wasnt working which in august you really need, later found out that the hotel decides when this goes on and off. our balcony was a joke, it backed straight out onto a wall, in order to see the sky you had to crouch down and look through a gap at the end of the balconys, plus there was only one chair.

The room on the plus, if there is one, was that it was clean. We were on the 1st floor and on our 1st night, and may i add our last night, we were kept awake till 4am with all the noise which then started again at 7am.  The next day we asked reception, who this time were most unhelpful, for a room change to a higher floor as it was so noisy, but to no avail. We went to breakfast at 9.30am to find that there was no bacon left, only a few cold eggs and not much else worth eating. It says the restarant is open till 10am but they dont bother to restock the food and began clearing it away at 9.45am. Now we were mad. We phoned our travel agent and said whatever it cost we wanted to move we were not staying. they found us an upgrade to the H Top Royal Beach which was like a palce in comparison, there we met up with other couples who had also moved from the Alexis.

The location of the Alexis is good if you want to be near all the nightlife! If you have booked this hotel and cant change at this end you can change at the other end for sure. I would rate this hotel a very low 2* if not a 1*.

We have just returned from our holiday in the Alexis hotel on arrival at 02.30am we were dropped off at the bottom of a steep hill and told to walk up with our luggage.

After a short walk in the dark our party of nine all thought my god what have we done.We had a sleep and all met up in the dining room for breakfast,it was very clean and the food was well presented. All the seven nights we stayed there we could not complain about the food, yes it was repetative but then most hotel food is after a while.

We went off to find the pool which it did say on booking was very small so we were expecting this. The rooftop is excellent for sunbathing with a small splashpool and two jacuzzi. The entertainment we found to be very good on some nights and average on others, because this is a small hotel everyone were very friendly and we had a great time.

The hotel is small, clean and basic we found the staff very friendly especially Antonio,Helena who arranged the entertainment was a lovely girl who cannot do enough for you all in all you get what you pay for and this is a cheap holiday we enjoyed every minute.

We booked our holiday in Feb with Ferris coach holidays,we have travelled to the Costa Brava before and enjoyed it but this time i just wanted to come home the minutes i got into the hotel.
Our room was small to say the least they managed to squeeze four single beds into the room, unfortunatly this ment you could not open the door very far as the beds were in the way,the balcony was very small and rickety our view from the balcony was a brick wall and we never got any sun at all on it in the 7 days we were there. As for the food some of it had no taste to it and it was only luke warm, some of the other holidaymakers were warming there breakfast in the microwave in the morning.

At 1.30 in the morning there were kids playing football on the landings and this was just about every morning, but i have to say the icing on the cake was the buckets placed around the lounge/reception area to catch the rain that was coming in though the ceiling,

we have stayed in many hotels and apartments in Costa Brava and this has got to be the worst, certainly would not recommend it to anyone, i know you get what you pay for but this place is just a joke.

My/Our Holiday Opinion:

We booked a last minute deal with Discount Holidays 2 weeks prior to leaving.  As we have dealt with this company before and have had no problems we were confident that allocation on arrival would be just fine for us after all we were guaranteed minimum 3 star with a pool. for a relaxing holiday that was all we were looking for.

Upon arriving at Gerona airport and having to wait 45 minutes for a discount holiday rep to arrive and tell us where we were going i was dissapointed to find out that it was infact the Hotel Alexis as i had read comments on this site previous to going on holiday. Never mind we will make the best of it we thought it cant be that bad. WRONG. it was worse.

Arrived to find two beds for four people in a tiny room measuring 7 feet by 6 feet 5 inches. i tell not a lie. After returning to reception they allocated us 2 rooms at seperate ends of the hotel for one night only.  the following morning they did manage to find us a room.  rooms were basic but clean.

we went searching for the pool. I joke you not when i say that that is not a pool it was ridiculous.  it was tiny with no room for sunbeds and a 8 feet high wall round three sides.  the border of the pool measured 20 inches and there was no way you could sit and supervise the children let alone swim in it.  it was full of cigarette ends and bottles with broken glass.  Dont worry i said there has to be another pool somewhere. NO.  only place to sunbathe was on the roof. With 2 jacuzzi that badly needed a clean and a puddle that they called a splash pool. THE ONLY THING WE WANTED WAS A RELAXING HOLIDAY LYING AT THE POOL READING A BOOK WHILST MY GIRLS PLAYED IN THE POOL - WHAT POOL.

Complained at reps meeting along with several others to no avail. phoned the resort office and eventually phoned back home to discount holidays offices only to be told that all accomodation was full and that we would have to like it or lump it. after waiting for 2 1/2 days to be moved we were eventually told we could move to another hotel if we packed our bags and left within 20 minutes.  this we did and ended up with a good holiday in the Royal Beach hotel which in comparison was like buckingham palace.

MY ADVICE TO ANYBODY TRAVELLING TO THIS HOTEL IS SAVE YOUR MONEY AND GO ELSEWHERE.
If you are unfortunate to be landed with this hotel fight for your rights and demand to be moved or threaten to find out the address of the resort office and camp out on their doorstep. that is what we did and it worked.
THE ONLY WAY WE CAN SEE THIS HOTEL IMPROVING IS IF YOU KNOCK IT DOWN AND START AGAIN.

just found this site while browsing the web i went to this hotel in july last year and yes it has a small pool but while i was there kids were in it enjoying themselves it is a dated hotel but the staff were fine the entertainment was pretty good the girl who arranged all entertainment was really good getting to know all the guests by their first names trying to get everyone involved in games and entertainment the staff in the bar were funny and friendly

i was on holiday on my own with 3 teenage girls and they had a ball i had no worries i knew where they were at all times because it is a small hotel our room was one of the rooms facing the wall at first i was disapoinnted but we never spent any time in the room except to sleep or get changed we met lots of people here from all over dutch germans english and everyone got on well together

also the roof terrace where you didnt have to fight for sunbeds was a great suntrap and when i was there really peacfull and relaxing with a roof terrace bar where you could serve yourself soft drinks or waiter service for the hard stuff the food in the restaurant was good with 3 girls all fussy eaters they were sometimes first in the queue at meal times only thing that we found dissapointing was the picnic we orderd for a day out cold hamberger and bun not very nicebut thats the only thing ,

lloret itself is great lots of narrow streets lots of shops plenty of bars nd clubs great beach we used to go down near where the castle was less busy. in my opinion this hotel is dated but i enjoyed it iv been in lots of hotels and believe me this is not one of the worst

went to lloret de mar with my husband in jan 07. we stayed at almirall apartments, staff very friendly, apartment was spotless, only thing was there was no kettle, toaster, oven,or microwave just your basic two hob cooker,so take a travel kettle with you.lot of cameras inside building so you feel secure.

it was quite cold but it was january, lots of places to eat considering that alot of places where closed for the season. try the piccadilly at the sea front they do breakfast all day and other food too, very cheap also they have a happy hour every night, staff are very friendly and make you feel welcome.we went to the braveheart pub were you are made to feel welcome too. lots of shops to buy things. beach is lovely, the streets are very clean, watch out when crossing the road, alot of people on scooters who will not stop for you. plenty to do during the day we done alot of walking dont expect to get into the castle like we did it has been closed for years.

we would go back to lloret but not in january but in the summer.

My/Our Holiday Opinion:

Lloret de Mar is a very nice resort, the promenade and beach are lovely and clean, the sea is not very suitable really for young children to swim alone as the sand ends suddenly, also take some sand shoes to where as the sand is very corse but nice and clean. The boats that run to all the near by bays are exellent, and good value.

The Orient Express Resturant on the sea front is very good, they also do a very good english breakfast.Watch out for bag thiefs especially when having a drink, we were sat at a table outside a cafe when we suddenly saw our bag under the table move, two men were pulling it with a walking stick while we were talking, so always be on your guard.
The Almirall Apartments we stayed at were excellent right on the beach front with sea veiw balconys, very clean, and the staff very helpful, also very resonably priced. We stayed at the start of the season 25 May 06 so it was not noisy, but i suppose anywhere will be noisy later on.

All in all everything is very nice at and around Lloret de Mar, and plenty to see and do for all ages. If you do go have a great holiday.

The Hotel Ancla is very pleasant.  THe staff are very friendly but there english is not to good.  The hotel is more aimed towards the spanish as is the entertainment and food.  The hotel has been refurbished recently, but only the ground floor and top two accomodation floors.  The room are very basic but clean and tidy.  The bar is very reasonable and you casn also go on an all inclusive basis.  The hotel has its own spa with steam room and jaccuzi.

My/Our Holiday Opinion:

I stayed at this hotel for 4 nights in june 2007 for a short break. The hotel was absolutely fine. To be honest, in view of the price we paid... it was much better than anticipated.

I had been to lloret de mar previously and had stayed in the main part of town, which I have to say was certainly not one of the nicest resorts. The Aquarium, however, is situated just around the coast from the main centre in an area called Fenals. Fenals has its own beach, which was definately not as busy as the main beach in Lloret, and it had a very pleasant little beach bar, which considering the location was reasonably priced. It only took us 5 minutes to walk to the beach from the hotel.

We walked into the main centre of lloret one day and this only took us 10 minutes. Once I was there however, I remembered why I had booked to stay away from the town!Fenals itself was fine. There were quite a few eating and drinking establishments, not that we tried them out as we had half board at the hotel which I have to say was very good! Evening meals were very good and always lots to choose from. Breakfast was good too, although if you are looking for a perfect English breakfast, you will be a little disappointed as it is the usual spanish bacon and sausages. We always found somthing we liked though, which we were more than happy with! We found a nice little bar opposite the hotel called Bodegan Sandra, which was a lovely little Spanish bar, up a side street, with tables on the pavement and cheap drinks, which was just perfect to sit and have a good chat and a few glasses of wine and chill out! This is where we went most evenings!

We went on a day trip to Port Aventura in Salou, which took approx 2 and a half hours each way. It was a fab day out and for approx 46 euros including the coach and entry to the park(7 hours in the park), I think was well worth the money! We booked this at the hotel reception.Beware if you book this the hotel tell you to look out for the bus marked "Peking Tours", however when a bus pulled up that just had a sign for Port Aventura in the window, we showed the driver our ticket, and he checked his list and told us to get on the coach, so it was not marked Peking tours!! We were lucky we asked! We also went on a local bus to the next resort of Blanes, which is only about a 10 minute drive away, costing around 1 euro 60 each. This made a nice day out. We spent most of it on the beach, which I must say was lovely!Last but not least for your info.. the taxi from Girona Airport cost us 45 euros each way.

All in all a fab time was had by both of us, and I would definately go back again.

My/Our Holiday Opinion:

We have recently returned from this hotel and could not recommend it to anyone for a number of reasons.

1).We are not fussy eaters by any means but the food was a very poor indeed, it was virtually the same selection every night and did not seem to have been cooked properly most nights.  If you can live on chips and salad though you should be ok!!

2). The entertainment was absolutely diabolical in this hotel, firstly it is clearly focused on French Italian and German guests with nothing to cater for British people and secondly it was just very poor indeed.  I have been to many Spanish resorts in the past and have seldom seen poorer.

3). We found that although maid service is available every day they always knock your door about 9am to clean your room if you are maybe having a long lie after a late night they never came back until the next day.

4). The staff were a mixed bunch - the bar staff were very friendly and would go out of their way to help you(Manuel, Isabel and Merche)but the reception staff were uninterested in queries from us, even trying to get change for the pool tables and video games they made you feel as if you were a hassle to them

5). There is virtually nothing here for kids, apart from the pools they have pool table, air hockey and 3 video games !!

For anyone who misses good HOME COOKED food try Dani's just around the corner, the food was excellent and we ate their almost everyday.

On a final note although there is quite a lot to do in the center of Lloret de Mar be very careful of muggers and pick pockets we spoke to at least to people who had been robbed while we were there and were ourselves followed on night by a suspicious character

4 star Hotel?? I think NOT.  JUNE 2006

It was definatly the worst hotel we have ever stayed in. If you are used to 4* hotels in the canaries then you are in for a dissapointment. The Hotel is old, in the middle of the town, VERY noisey (from streets, cars mopeds and clubbers).
The rooms are kept clean and the staff are very helpful ( the only good points).

We had to move room 3 times because we couldn't sleep at night due to the noise.
the Bin men are as regular as clockwork 22.55 every night. Bars opposite and night clubs very close will have clubbers and boozers keeping you awake til 4am, and that was every night, worst being fri+sat then it was till 4.30am. Mopeds blasting up+down the streets, horns blowing for NO reason other than to make noise.
The hotel food was poor. The SAME menu all 7 nights, breakfast was the same. We eat out 3 days.

home today for a rest and a good nights sleep!! Just about everyone on the tomson coach had the same opinions

I have been going to Lloret de mar for 15 years. The hotel it actually located in Fanals which i a lovely place. The beach and promenade haqs vastly been improved with lovely bars on the prom. One of the best bars in Fanals is Buzzbys and just across the road from the hotel is the Royal Navy Bar. The hotel staff were very friendly our room overlooked the street we asked to be moved it was done the next day for us. It was no problem for the staff. The food wa good but not always a lot of choice. The breakfast was very good with the toast machine and fruit.
We will be going back next year I have stayed in the " all inclusives" they are full of kids and drunks not so in the Aquarium. It ha a lovely pool outdoor and in and an outsie snackbar with very friendly staff.

THE HOTEL
Make no mistake this is a four star hotel, with excellent reception area, room's and restuarant. Unfortunately it has been built in the wrong place, nearly every balcony looks out at the Spanish residential flats and some have the added bonus of the pool area.

THE STAFF
At first reception seemed a little cool but once they recognised you things were very friendly, the big hurdle is the fact that they speak very little English and unfortunately that is the only language I speak so I will accept the blame for that, the language problem existed throughout the week and several shop owners became agitated with us....expecting us to suddenly speak in French.

THE ROOM
Very nice room with a small settee, excellent bathroom, TV...only Sky news and Eurosport in English, we found the beds a bit hard but not too bad. Nice balcony but unfortunately only had views of washing, and whatever the folk's opposite stored on their balcony's

ENTERTAINMENT
The evening entertainment was not very good, nothing for the English guests and the speakers must have been on maximum volume.

FOOD
Oh dear...to make something clear...I am not a fussy eater and I am prepared to give different foods "a go" but I draw the line at raw meat. There is a buffet and also a grill where the "cook" throws the meat on a hot plate, lets it browns and then serves it, when you cut into it the centre is still raw, and I mean very raw!. My wife became ill mid week and we filed a report with the rep. On Thurday we had lamb that did not go very well and it was back on Friday called turkey. Chips everyday, even for breakfast. and no jacket, boiled, or mashed potatoes at all. The meat was very poor quality and this was mentioned by others.

THE RESORT
Sorry...not impressed at all, lots of residential flats, some big hotels and dirty broken pavements. The usual shops selling rubbish and sidewalk cafes also selling rubbish. There is a nice beach area but the steep sands would concern me if I had youngsters. Traffic is very busy and the sirens of the police and ambulance is constant, although credit to the Spanish...they can parkt in a gap only 4" longer than their car. I don't think I am being unfair with my comments, we were at Palma Nova last year and it was a world of difference.

THOMPSON REPS
What reps??   She did not show for the meet or greet or the excursion sales next day, we had to phone the holiday line before she arrived, stating she had attended at times different to those advertised...what good is that? unless you want to sit in reception all day on the off chance

CONCLUSION
Back to Majorca for us, perhaps we just picked a bad time because there are a lot of good reviews about this hotel and resort, but in all honesty if we were offered a totally free week back at this hotel and resort the answer would be a big NO THANK YOU.

Hotel Aquarium - Lloret De Mar

Resort Rating: Good

Accommodation Rating: Very Good

My/Our Holiday Opinion:

Thanks to all those whose reviews helped us to select a good hotel and resort.I hope the following information will benefit others.

We booked an airport transfer in advance from Girotransfers on the internet and found them helpful and efficient: the fare from Girona to the hotel in Fennals Beach was 40 Euros each way. If you negotiate the fare with a taxi at the airport I think you will get it for 35E. It takes about 25 minutes. There are also buses running into Lloret but not very frequently and I think the last bus is around 9pm.

The Aquarium is a good hotel situated in the middle of the Fennals beach area of Lloret and bordered by narrow streets. There are many large hotels in this area so no sea views, I'm afraid. It is  very clean, and with hard-working staff, though we did find the reception staff varied from helpful to  indifferent.

Food at the hotel was good and varied but not spectacular and none of the large fancy displays { or 20 varieties of bread sort of thing} which you sometimes see. There was a kind of pretty loose dress code of the smart casual type { no fancy evening wear seen to dinner, for example}.
Guests seem to be largely Spanish and French with lesser numbers of Italian and German, and even less numbers of British { I must wear a Union Jack T-shirt next time; if only to stop the waiters say "Danke".

A walk of about ten minutes takes you to the beach which is very nice but has two drawbacks mentioned by others. It shelves VERY  steeply into the sea and this applies not only to Lloret but to all the the beaches along the coast north of Barcelona. It is a remarkable { and much  photographed thing} , to see the large 'sea taxi' boats drive straight in until their prow is well onto the beach and their stern is still in about four metres of water ! It is also surprising to see people up to their chests in the sea and only four paces from the waters edge.

The other thing about the beach is that its made up of grit and very hard on the feet { I have a GOOD TIP for this }. Sandals don't really help much as the grit gets in there and its 'ouch' time again. If you want the kids [ or even you ] to play games etc happily put them some SOCKS on ! The grit then feels just like sand.I found that out totally by accident on the last day { when else ? }.

The easy way to get into the main part of Lloret de Mar, which is seperated by a headland,  is by bus; either from places in the middle of Fennals or from the north end of the Fennals promenade; just past where the ticket kiosks for the boats are. The fare is 90c. Incidentally, one of the main places for catching buses to anywhere is about 100 metres from the Aquarium hotel, and next to the Caprabo supermarket.

Barcelona is beautiful; a gorgeous city, but takes longer to reach from Lloret than I had calculated, about one hour and fortyfive minutes what with the trip to the station and then the one and a quarter hour train journey . The way to get there is to catch a bus to Blanes { pronounced Blanness } These yellow buses go from the Caprabo supermarket stop and the sign up front says ' Llorett - Estacio'. Blanes is the only station  to use and the bus fare is 1.80E. At the station the fare will be 7.20E return each.

The best station to get off at in Barcelona is 'Catalunya Plaza'. This is regarded as  the geographical centre of the city and its most famous street La Rambla runs from the square down to the harbour. The tourist buses run from here and cost 18E; they are well worth it as it is a trip of about 2 hours with stops at 20 famous landmarks. There are two tourist buses, yellow and blue. The blue 'bus touristic' ones seem far more frequent than the yellow ones.

The best way to see Barcelona, in my own opinion, is to take the tourist bus and be prepared to get off at each stop; far better than running around on the subway.

I hope this information is helpful and wish you all a good holiday

I first visited LLORET DE MAR 18 years ago and i must say it has certainly come up in the world from my last visit.

The Aquarium Hotel was fantastic, it was spotless clean the rooms were very nice, towels and bed linen changed daily the staff were vey friendly and helpful. The food in the hotel was very good lots of choice you could always find something to eat.To be honest we only decided to go to LLORET DE MAR because we got cheap RYAN AIR flights and a good hotel deal it is not a place i thought i would go back to, but we were all surprised how nice it was. The resort is family friendly with good quality hotels and for a end of season break you cant go wrong the weather was fantastic for the end of october.

We travelled as a group and all of us agree the Aquarium Hotel and the resort itself are well worth a visit. We will go again sometime in the future.

My/Our Holiday Opinion:

We went to this holiday as a 3 generation family, with Grandparents, parents, uncle and twin baby boys; we were a wee bit scared after reading previous reviews, but we were not disappointed. The Aquarium hotel is scrupulously clean and tidy, the rooms are comfortable with air conditioning and tv, and the food was good.

The staff were very friendly and very attentive. Other guests, mainly French and Spanish were all friendly too, but I guess they were all very attracted by our 8month old twin grandsons who became the centre of attraction when we were in the hotel restaurant. The food was very good with a choice of soups salads and main courses which always included fish meat and poultry choices. The chefs were always on hand, cooking food freshly at a grill in the reataurant, and we were impressed by the wide choice available.

The beaches were about 10 minutes away, and the granular sand does not stick to your feet like fine sand does. Lloret is about 15 mins walk away, very easy to get to and there is all the restaurants cafes and bars... there are also many tourist tat shops which are open late into teh evening. My wife and I had been to Lloret in 1979 for our honeymoon and it seems to have grown and improved since then. Would we go back? Yes, Yes, Yes

My/Our Holiday Opinion:

I was nervous about booking through an 'Internet' company but everything went according to plan.  One advantage is that you can choose exactly how many nights you wish to stay for.   Only down side was that flights are into Barcelona Airport and you have an hour and a half transfer, rather than 40 minutes from Gerona. !!

Hotel Aquarium is 4 star rating and is in an excellent location in the Fenals area - centre of Lloret is only a 10 minute walk, albeit over a hill.  Buses run frequently and only costs 90 cents.

Hotel is immaculately clean and all staff are very helpful, especially reception.   There were lots of French and German guests but this seems to be the norm throughout Lloret.

I am not a very adventurous person when it comes to food, but I could not fault the menus and food quality or choices available - Food was excellent and everyone we spoke to agreed on this.

We didnt have a pool view and our room overlooked the hill going over to Lloret which could be noisy at times with traffic, but you do become used to it.

Beach at Fenals is perfect, except for the fact that there is a drop as soon as you enter the water, but this is the same in Lloret, Tossa and Blanes.

Water taxis running to Tossa and Blanes from Fenals beach and are reasonably priced at 9.50 and 7.50 respectively.

Disappointed in night life in Fenals. Lots of pubs but none with more than a few people in them and lacking in atmosphere.  'British Bars' seemed to be most unwelcoming and served you on a 'Take it or leave it' manner.   They also seemed to be ovepriced.   Try the Spanish Bodegas which give good value for money.  El Cid is opposite the Caprabo Supermarket and Fenals Garden hotel and gives superb value and service. This was the only place we could find that was full every night and the staff were great.

Overall we had a good holiday, but as they say - have seen it, done it, bought the t-shirt.

My/Our Holiday Opinion:

We stayed at the Augusta Club for 4 nights, booked via superbreak. On our arrival we found that the hotel was exceptionally clean. The staff were very polite and dealt with us very efficiently. The room was not the largest i have stayed in, however it was ample considering we do not go on holiday to sit in the room all day! The air con in the room was a god send!We were probably the only English people staying in the hotel, the majority being a mixture of german, french and spanish, which did not bother me at all.

We did not spend any time around the pool as we went to the beach each day, which was lovely. The resort of lloret de mar itself was ok. It was certainly not the best resort that i have stayed in. It is quite a large resort, and it took us a while to discover that there was more to the strip of bars and tacky discos that ruled the main street! However we discovered that further along the beach in the direction of the castle there were some lovely relaxing bars that we were more than happy to sit in and enjoy drinks and cocktails.

All in all I enjoyed staying at this hotel, and from walking around the resort would say that it looks far superior to the majority of hotels in the area. If you are like us and simply like to use the hotel as a base, then this hotel is absolutely ideal.

If I was to visit the area again I would definately stay in this hotel again!

My/Our Holiday Opinion:

We chose this resort and apartments mainly because of the price, but it also seemed to have everything we wanted from the brochure.
We were travelling in quite a large group to celebrate a hen week.  We were really pleasantly surprised at the location and the standard of the accomodation.

We arrived at about 10:30pm when the main strip(which is where the apartments are located) was buzzing.  Firstly we were a little worried becuase we thought it would be really nosiy, but once in the rooms it really was quite quiet.
The resort itself isn't anything like Magaluf, or Ibiza but there is plenty to do at night time.  We ended up in Moby's most nights which was decent enough to have a good dance and a good laugh in.  We also tried Collossus (not one of our favourites), but in the way of bars, Rockafellers wasnt too bad either.

We did notice however that there weren't all that many English people there at all - mainly groups of stags but loads of Danish people, who are pretty inoffensive (if you can handle all the euro pop they seem to love!).
We didnt manage to find all that many great places to eat really.  But try the Orient Express if youre looking for a good breakfast, or lovely spare ribs and we did manage to find a nice little Italian place down one of the back roads who did lovely fajitas, pastas and meats.

All in all a good experience!!

Very poor accomodation. Smoke alarm missing from room, towels only changed every FOUR days, we  tried to change ours after 3 days and were left without any at all for next two days! Only managed to get some by finding cleaners cupboard on top floor! No customer service at all.

Snack bar by pool always out of majority of menu. No ramp to get pram to pool area - only lots of steps. Pool was quite qood though -good size, appeared clean unlike pool area which had NO bins. Staff attitudes were very unhelpful, often rude. bedrooms not suitable for family of 4-far to small. No grill or oven. sheets only changed once per week.

We spent as little time as possible in the apts - not least because there was open wires in the wall and it was unsafe for the baby to crawl around. They also mixed the large groups with the families, rather than seperating the floors, causing my children to be woken by drunken revellers at 4am and them to be woken at 7am by my children! Its a shame because this hotel seemed to have potential, I quite liked the position between lorette and fenels, pool was a good size, bar downstairs quite good, even had childrens park. Badly in need of refurbishment and staff customer service training and people skills develpoment.

I would not return.

Caribe Hotel - lloret de Mar

Operator and Date: Separate hotel/flights - Jun 2006

Opinion submitted in June 2006 by : Ross & Stanislava Armstrong - Nottm (28,21)

Resort Rating: Very Good

Accommodation Rating: Good

My/Our Holiday Opinion:

We were looking for a cheap full board hotel as close as possible to the sea front and everything we came across turned out to have bad reviews - especially regarding the food. We only found a couple of very short comments about Caribe but one mentioned the food being 'reasonable'. We took the plunge anyway, and having now spent a week there we thought we'd better write a more detailed review.

First of all - location. The hotel was allegedly 100 metres from the sea. Bearing this is mind, and my wife having previously stayed at the Excelsior (which she would rate highly by the way, although at the moment there's heavy work going on there) which was on the front line and also described as being 100 metres from the beach, we were somewhat disappointed to find the hotel on the third line back. Still, it must have only been 300 metres and 2-3 minutes walk to the beach, most of which was completely level, so no great problem. Beach was tiny little stones - bit prickly on the feet but okay to lie on with the towel, and the nice thing is that they don't stick to you like sand.

Finding it's a bit tricky - forget vehicle access! There's a main pedestrian route called Vila Del Mar that runs parallel to the beach. If the beach is off to your right then about 5 mins walk after the church the hotel is up a street on the left - the sign is hanging high above the narrow street. If you reach the Vila De Mar Hotel you've gone about 1 minute too far. The location is actually very good - nice traditional bars (bodega's) and restaurants off to one side, or the newer part of the town and the modern bars and disco's off to the other. There's also 2 very nice beach bars within a few minutes walk - we ended up drinking Sangria and watching the waves most evenings. The third beach bar towards the 'trendy' end of town is a lot priceyer.

The hotel itself is pretty large, but doesn't look it initially from the outside. After entering the large reception, with a bar and games room to one side, you have to go up a storey - the restaurant is half a storey up - before coming out onto a large terrace where there is a sizable pool bar but slightly small pool, and 7 floors of tower block rise in front of you. This is kind of off-centre which means a slightly inconvenient second lift/set of stairs - and we were on the 7th floor.

Layout is also poor, with the rooms kind of forming a narrow U shape and noise passing straight from one side to the other. It was rather muggy so we had the windows opening, but, to be fair, there was an airconditioning unit - assume you needed to request/pay for a remote control though (no controls on the unit itself), so you probably could shut the windows. There are no balconies to the rooms on the inside of the U shape, but believe there are some on the other side. Rooms were small but big enough, with a desk to one side, plenty of cupboard space, and a table and 2 chairs by the window. The bathroom was oddly narrow with the toilet space cramped but a large shower - not very consistent temperature though! Tip: the higher the temperature you set it at, the less often / intense the intermittent cold blast was!!

The food: Not bad actually for a 2 star / 3 keys hotel; varied from day to day. For breakfast, there was a selection of hams/salami's and cheese, which varied a little each day. 2 cereals - corn flakes, and either cocopops or sugar puffs. Always crossiants, bread rolls and sliced bread, with a self service toaster. Either donuts or a sweet bun. No sausage and bacon I'm afraid though! Lunch and evening meal were similar, main courses would change: always a good selection of salads, then 5 or 6 'mains', although 3 or 4 would be potatoes, chips, pasta or some kind of fried vegatables (aubergine, courgettes etc). There was a little too much fried food for my liking. At least there weren't chips every day though. you could usually find something reasonably healthy although choice was a little limited. Main meats would be pork chops in a mushroom sauce, or battered, chicken, pizza, fish (battered or grilled) or a rather tasty beef stew. Not exactly cordon blue, but tasty enough. Started to get bored after a week but just about okay for that long. You had to buy drinks: 1.50 EUR for a large water or coke, 1 EUR for a small water, 2 EUR for a 20cl beer, 3 EUR for a jug of wine (careful: just one glass of the rose about blew my head off!).

The staff: Very friendly. Especially Antonio, who administrated the restaurant / drinks tickets. On the couple of occasions we had drunk German football songs at 5am, the security were swift and (after the second warning) effective. The maid service was everyday which was good. Although you couldn't double lock your door from the inside and there were no 'do not disturb' signs which was a bit annoying.

Another problem was that the hotel seemed to cater for groups of Spanish schoolkids - there was a group of about 30 13-15 year olds staying for a few days. The restaurant and pool became chaotic and they weren't particularly quiet at night either. This could have been a one off though. There were plenty of couples and families staying at the hotel. It did seem to cater more for German and Russian (or some other Slavic tongue; my wife is Bulgarian and we recognised some words but couldn't identify the exact language) guests but this wasn't a problem for us.

Overall, I'd say the Caribe hotel is just a typical large but basic hotel. Let down a little by some bad layout and improved by helpful staff. I'd recommend it for a short stay if you're after a cheap break, but we started to bore of the food and felt cramped by the space after a week.

The resort itself was a lot nicer that I recall. Although last time I went was back in 1999 for a lads holiday and didn't see much of it during the day. was worried that Lloret would be the wrong kind of place for a quiiet couples romantic holiday, but needn't have worried. Stick to the old town at night to enjoy more traditional restaurants and bars and avoid the ticket touts. Man they're like vermin! After being stopped 3 times in the space of 30 seconds we devised a route through the back streets just so we could get to a late night supermarket on that side! The old town of Lloret is quiet pretty though, with narrow streets and plenty of shops. There are some nice Cliffside walks too. You can have both a romantic holiday or a clubbing holiday in lloret de mar - just try and position your hotel well (north-east/central lloret old town, quiet - south-west/Fennals area (another beach at Fennals) for more larger holiday complex and modern town/clubs at central-west part of town).

Hope this helps! Need a new keyboard now :)

We went 11-18th June 2006.

kids couldnt use the pool as stag lads got a bit mad through each other in and stuff.only allowed 2 drinks at a time which was a problem for me having four kids out on my own and queues to big for kids to wait in.hotel very dirty and staff unhelpful.steps everywhere so no good for prams or wheelchairs.holiday so bad my partner had to take time off work and fly over half way through.never go back it was a holiday from hell please dont go her if you have chilren all other reports are true

Just got back from a 1 wk holiday' i read reviews before i went which didn't sound good but it was cheap & my son thought the pool looked good. We found the hotel ok,the food was pretty good,i was surprised as i'am fussy .It was a bit of a pain with pool& pool bar being on separate levels you are up& down all the time.Rooms are small& shabby but clean,my only major complaint was the noise between 3.00am& 6.00am it really is torture then you just seem to nod off then the football starts maybe they should have a security guard on every floor at these times to help cut the noise down,

i wouldn't recommend it for families good for groups although apart from the noise at night it would've been a good cheap break.

Just back from 3 nights at this hotel. 20 lads on a stag party, easy to please. Try again!!!!. 99% of the reviews you have prob read are true. The whole hotel top to bottom is rubbish, dated, very very poor food, loud, grubby and the list goes on.
A 2 star at best if that.
If you have booked to go here as a family, i have 2 kids myself, I would not recommend it!!!. This will def save you being disgusted at this hotel.

THE SINGLE THING THAT IS NOT AGAINST THIS HOTEL, FOR A STAG/HEN PARTY IS ITS LOCATION IN RELATION TO THE BARS.

I HAVE STOPPED AT 10+ AI HOTELS AND THIS IS THE WORST.

18 of us have just returned from this hotel, we were there on a hen party for 4 nights. The hotel itself is pretty dated, the bar and reception area were pretty modern but the rooms were like something from the 70's lol. Food and drinks were fine, plenty of choice and fresh. Staff were fab, very friendly and helpful.

One thing i must say is this hotel is fantastic for all adult parties, but i would be devastated if i was sent there with my children. It was full to the brim of hen/stag parties so as you can imagine it wasn't the quietest of places but we all had a fantastic time.

We didn't spend a great deal of time out of the hotel as we were all inclusive but we did manage to stagger to the beach a couple of times which is only about 5/10 mins walk, there are also plenty of late bars in the local area, which i must say we did manage to get to..... eventually.

All in all we had a fab tme and wouldn't hesitate to go back again. The only thing i would suggest apart from a full refurb is a massive warning about this hotel not being suitable for families.

Im not fussy when it comes to accomodation but from what I had read I as expecting a dump...

POSITIVE POINTS
Clean rooms.
Comfy beds.
Rooms have a bath.
Good All inclusive drinks.
Internet Access.
All inclusive meals changed everyday and there was plenty to chose from.
Central Location, close to everything.

NEGATIVE POINTS
We were there in May and noise was abit of an issue at night so peak season would be awful if you are a light sleeper.
Also there werent enough sunbeds for everyone stayin there.

Its a really busy hotel not sure if thats a good or bad thing?? OVER ALL I would say that its no way near as bad as the Reviews say it is! For a cheap Hol I reccommend!

We had booked to go to Lloret De Mar just for the weekend, after reading many reviews on this hotel we were dreading arriving at our hotel. We got there and from the outside looked quite good, checked in and went to the dreaded lifts - which DID WORK EVERY TIME we called them!

The rooms were rather small but its really just a place to rest your head at night. There was quite a bit of noise but what do you expect if most of the people staying there have went all inclusive and have been drinking all day! If the noise had got too much then the security guard came up!!! We had gone for half board - thankfully because the food was rubbish! Cold hot dogs for breakfast, and greasy burgers for dinner - we just ate chips!

We ate out most nights. Lloret de Mar was good for the nightlife, although the weather wasnt up to much the weekend that we went!

Would go back to the same hotel and resort, just wouldnt go all inclusive because of the let down of food!

Just came back from aweek of total hell at this (3*** NO WAY) Hotel, we saw what we thought was a good bargain on the television and like many others i suspect didn't take a look at this web site first.
After a day or so i did and most of what was said is very true. The noise was not just until 2am or even 3am but all seven nights we were their went on until 5-30am, included fighting, slaming of doors, screaming, and shouting students. We have been in a lot of hotels near and far from 2** to 5***** but have never been in such a dump like this one.So if you are going to this hotel ask your self this question, what tour operators in the U.K. use this hotel i.e. Thomson, Airtours etc, answer Not a lot if any and now we know why.

Just back from 4 days at Casino Royal.  My friend and I went for new year.  This is not a good time of year to go, very quiet and well there was no-one British under the age of 50.

Nightlife is poor as its out of season.  The accommodation was also very poor.  There was no airconditioning and I realise you are wondering why that would be required in December.  Well the hotel had the heating on in each room pretty much all day and all night and this was controlled from reception and therefore we had to suffer the heat.

The rooms badly need refurbished and most areas of the hotel are stuffy with people smoking.

Unfortunately, I did not have a good experience of this hotel and I would not recommend to anyone else.

My advice is give Lloret de mar a miss and maybe head for Barcelona.

Hope this helps

Lloret de Mar should be re-named 'Chav Central'...but it's surprising how quickly you get used to seeing Burberry....!!

This a resort for young clubbers only.  There is no way I would consider taking family, young or old.  Thankfully, both of us are mid twenties and had a fantastic time in the bars and clubs!!

The Casino Royale has had some pretty bad reviews on this site and I want to stick up for it a bit.  The all inclusive meals are fine and perfectly edible but you tire of them pretty quickly.  We tended to eat breakfast and lunch in the hotel and go out for our evening meal.  The drinks are great (especially the various 'cocktails of the day'!) and the bartenders are wonderful - special mention to Pablo and Mark.  It can be very noisy at night, especially if your balcony is pool facing, so I would recommend earplugs.  There are a lot of stag parties that stay at this hotel, but none were any trouble - just entertaining!!

The hotel is just at the end of the main strip so the location is great.

For clubs, the main one is Tropics.  We tried quite a few others but all were disappointing.  Stick to Tropics or Hollywood.

We would recommend the water park.  Full day is 23 Euro and worth every penny.

My/Our Holiday Opinion:

We stayed at the above hotel for 2 weeks in July this year.  Our party comprised of 3 couples of ages ranging from 43 - 63.

We were unaware when we booked that most of this hotel is let out to students in the summer months and most of the lower floors were occupied by 16 year olds of both sexes under minimum supervision.  Consequently for the first week we were kept awake all night by shouting, banging doors (the hotel only issues 1 key per room).  The students left at the end of the first week and were replaced by countless stag and hen partiers.  By the second day people were queing up to be moved to other hotels (with little success).  The hotel itself is located on a very busy and treacherous roundabout and opposite a building site (they are building a new bus station).  It is also very near the bars and clubs which empty out at about 4.30am.

The food at the hotel was mediocre and bland but edible if you were very hungry. We spent the second week taking one hour coach trips to the other hotels in the group. These hotels were luxurious by comparison.

There was no entertainment in the Casino Royal apart from 2 brazilian nights in the whole fortnight. The lifts are a nightmare and you have to use stairs to get anywhere, especially the pool area.

But above all our biggest complaint about this hotel and the reason why we spent as little time as possible there was the staff attitude, particularly in the main bar.  The staff were not just indifferent and slow, they were expressly rude and ignorant.  On the first night we arrived, England were playing a world cup game.  We asked if they were showing it in the bar.  We were told by a sneering barman that the television was broken for 'one night only'.  Every other world cup game was shown.  This attitude encapsulates the attitude of all the staff.  The only exception was the staff at the pool bar and the cleaning staff who were very nice.

We have stayed in many 3 star hotels all over the world and have never come across such rude and ignorant staff.
Stay at this hotel if you are deaf, an insomniac, have no children, on a diet and very very thick skinned.
